No need of SIM card to talk on phone, work done on new technology Gujarati
Just imagine that you have a smartphone with the help of which you can call and talk to someone even without a SIM card. It sounds a bit funny but it has to be a reality. We are saying this because soon you are going to get a technology with the help of which you will be able to talk to someone on the phone even without a SIM card. The name of this technology is Direct to Device (D2D).
D2D calling will be started by government company BSNL. BSNL has also completed the trial of D2D calling. BSNL has partnered with global satellite communication firm Viasat for D2D calling facility. Under D2D calling, users will be able to make audio and video calls to each other without a SIM card or additional network. D2D technology can be used with many smart devices other than Android and iOS, which also includes smartwatches. The best thing is that D2D technology will work even in areas where network is not available.
Viasat’s Direct-to-Device Connectivity is a revolutionary technology that enables mobile phones, smart watches and even cars to connect directly to satellite networks. This technology is designed for both personal and device communications, providing reliable connectivity from any location, especially in remote and power-poor areas.
Direct-to-device service is based on satellite communications, allowing devices to connect directly without any mobile towers or wired connections. Similar to satellite phones, this new technology enables communication between smartphones, smartwatches and other smart gadgets.
During the trial, BSNL and Viasat have successfully tested two-way messaging and SOS messaging on Android smartphones using Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) connectivity. In which a phone call was also made through a satellite located 36,000 kilometers away, which was successful. D2D technology has been tested in the 8th India Mobile Congress (IMC 2024) going on in Delhi.
