Story of Mahesh Bhatt’s first wife: Relationship started from orphanage, broke at a painful turn

New Delhi. Famous Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has been in the headlines many times for his personal life more than his films. Recently, his daughter Pooja Bhatt talked openly about her father’s personal life and relationships, after which Mahesh Bhatt’s first wife Lauren Bright aka Kiran Bhatt has once again come into the limelight. Very few people know that the first love of Mahesh Bhatt’s life was no less than a film story. This relationship included immense love, letters written in blood, marriage and then painful separation.

Mahesh Bhatt and Lauren Bright met when both were very young. It is said that Mahesh was only 16 years old and Lauren was 14 years old. Lauren lived in an orphanage at that time, because her mother could not send her to a good school due to financial constraints. Mahesh Bhatt saw her for the first time outside the school and fell in love at first sight. Although in the initial phase he did not consider himself worthy of Lauren, but with time the closeness between the two kept increasing.

The most interesting aspect of their love story was that both of them used to express their feelings by writing letters to each other. It is said that Mahesh Bhatt used to write letters to Lauren with his own blood. A tailor used to work as a postman among them and deliver letters. This relationship gradually became so deep that Mahesh Bhatt married Lauren at the age of just 20. After marriage, Lauren’s name became Kiran Bhatt. They had two children from this relationship – Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt.

The initial years of marriage were very beautiful, but later distance started appearing in the relationship. During this time, famous actress Parveen Babi entered Mahesh Bhatt’s life. His growing closeness with Parveen Babi created a stir in his married life. Gradually Mahesh Bhatt started moving away from his wife and family.

After the end of his relationship with Parveen Babi, he came closer to the family for some time, but by then a lot had changed. Meanwhile, he met actress Soni Razdan. Mahesh Bhatt wanted to marry Soni Razdan, but he did not want to divorce his first wife. After this, he converted to Islam and changed his name to Ashraf and married Soni Razdan in the year 1986.

With time, Mahesh Bhatt’s life continued to progress, but Lauren Bright went into oblivion. He died in 2003 at the age of 66. The real reason for his death could never be revealed. However, whenever there is mention of the deepest and most intense love of Mahesh Bhatt’s life in Bollywood, the name of Lauren Bright i.e. Kiran Bhatt is definitely taken.
