People supported AAP rule
Responding to the results, CM Bhagwant Mann said that the people of Punjab have supported the development work done by the Aam Aadmi Party government. Also, he claimed that voters have rejected BJP’s politics of division on the basis of religion and caste.
CM said: BJP remained at fifth position
Launching a scathing attack on the opposition parties, Bhagwant Mann said that now it has become difficult even to identify who is actually the main rival of AAP in Punjab.
He pointed out that the BJP has traditionally claimed strong support in urban areas, yet the party finished fifth in the municipal elections. Mann further claimed that AAP has won more seats than Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP combined.
According to the Chief Minister, AAP won more than 90 percent of the nagar panchayats and municipal councils across the state.
‘Best environment for 2027 elections’
Bhagwant Mann stressed that the current political environment in Punjab is very favorable for the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.
He alleged that opposition forces are making combined efforts to weaken the party. Referring to investigations and political developments, Mann claimed that AAP leaders are facing Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids, businessmen are being harassed, and even Rajya Sabha MPs have been taken over by the BJP.
