But why this repression in Gilgit-Baltistan by Pak army. In fact, this region located in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir has been against the Pakistani rule for a long time. Many times in the past, the common people here have been seen rising against the government of Pakistan. The army has been accused of repressing the opposition political parties and ordinary people in order to control the situation. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is the main target of Pakistan Army here. Virtually all the top leaders of this group have been arrested. Those who were not arrested were ordered by the army to leave the area. In other words, fearing to lose control in this region, army chief Asim Munir has come down to use the army and militants to take control of the elections.
It is learned that apart from suppressing the opposition leaders, the army has adopted another strategy, that of fielding candidates of their choice. Here, out of 403 candidates, 272 are independents. Most of these candidates are puppets of the government, who have the full support of the administration and government system. These candidates are campaigning for public support.
