Major accident in Saket, Delhi, five-storey building collapses, fear of many people being buried.

New Delhi. A major accident occurred in Saket area of South Delhi on Saturday evening, when a five-storey commercial building suddenly collapsed. Within no time the entire building turned into a huge pile of debris. After the accident, there was chaos in the area and a large number of local people gathered at the spot. Many people are feared buried under the debris.

According to the information, Delhi Fire Service received information about the building collapse at around 7:44 pm. As soon as the information was received, the fire department dispatched four fire tenders to the spot. Teams of police, fire department and other rescue agencies immediately reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations. According to officials, so far four to five people have been safely pulled out from the debris, who have been sent to the hospital for treatment. At present, there has been no official confirmation of any casualty, but the search operation is continuing due to the possibility of more people being trapped under the debris.

Preliminary investigation by the police has revealed that a coaching institute operated on the ground floor of the building, while construction work was going on on the upper floors. For this reason, it is feared that students and laborers may also be trapped under the debris. However, clear information about how many people were present in the building at the time of the accident is not yet available. According to the local people, it was a commercial building with glass outer walls, where along with studies, many business activities were also conducted. People living nearby say that if this accident had happened during the busy time of the day, the loss of life could have been much higher.

The accident also affected some small buildings nearby. A small building adjacent to the building, which housed a mess, was partially affected. The people present there were evacuated safely in time, due to which major damage was averted. The scenes emerging from the incident site are extremely horrifying. The entire building has turned into a heap of concrete, iron rods and broken pillars. The debris has spread to the surrounding streets. Local people were seen helping the rescue teams in searching for people trapped under the debris with the help of mobile phones and torchlight.

After this accident which happened in narrow streets and densely populated area, the administration has surrounded the entire area. The police have appealed to the people to stay away from the incident site so that there is no hindrance in the relief and rescue work. At present, the fire department, police and disaster relief teams are jointly conducting search operations in the debris. The administration says that the rescue operation will continue until the search is complete. At the same time, investigation into the reasons for the building collapse has also been started. This accident is once again raising serious questions on the quality and safety standards of building construction in the capital. At present, the priority of the administration is to safely rescue the people trapped under the debris and to provide all possible assistance to the affected people.
