Abhishek Banerjee injured in Sonarpur violence, Mamata Banerjee made serious allegations of negligence on the hospital

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee was injured during the violent protests in Sonarpur. After the incident, he was immediately taken to a private hospital located in EM Bypass, Kolkata. When his condition did not improve, he was later shifted to another hospital in Minto Park.

Injuries in many places, complaint of nausea   

According to media reports, former minister Shobhan Chattopadhyay, who was present with Abhishek, said that many parts of his body including his head were injured. He is also experiencing continuous nausea. The team of doctors is investigating. The actual seriousness of the injury will be known only after the medical report comes.

Mamta Banerjee went straight to the hospital  

As soon as the news of the incident was received, Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee reached the hospital directly from her Kalighat residence. Abhishek’s mother Lata Banerjee was also present with him. Mamta first expressed her displeasure over the hospital arrangements.

He alleged that Abhishek was not being treated properly there. For this reason he had to be immediately shifted to another hospital. However, the hospital management refused to say anything on Mamta’s allegations.

Opposition raised questions on law and order   

After this incident the politics of Bengal has heated up. Opposition parties cornered the government regarding the law and order situation in the state. Aam Aadmi Party chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also strongly condemned the violence.

Kejriwal said that the continuously deteriorating situation in West Bengal is worrying. He demanded strict action from the state government against the culprits. At present, Abhishek Banerjee is undergoing treatment and doctors are keeping an eye on his condition.
