Huge uproar in Bengal: Abhishek Banerjee attacked in Sonarpur, stones and eggs thrown!
After the election violence in West Bengal, the political temperature has once again reached sky high. On Saturday, there was a huge uproar in Sonarpur area when the local people attacked Trinamool Congress (TMC) senior leader and MP Abhishek Banerjee. Abhishek Banerjee, who came to meet the victims of election violence, not only faced strong opposition, but stones, shoes and eggs were also thrown at him. In this sudden attack, even the MP’s shirt got torn, after which the security personnel were able to rescue him with great difficulty.
In fact, this was the first time after the results of the assembly elections that Abhishek Banerjee had publicly come down to meet a victim’s family. On Friday night itself, it was announced by the party that on Saturday the MP will go to ward number nine (Vivekananda Nagar) of Sonarpur Municipality. There he was going to meet the family members of Sanju Karmakar, who was a victim of election violence. But as soon as he got down from his car, the anger of the crowd present there reached the seventh heaven.
Women’s anger erupts over RG tax scandal
According to local people, as soon as Abhishek Banerjee arrived, slogans of ‘chor-chor’ started echoing there. A large number of women also participated in the protest, standing with eggs and shoes in their hands. People were angry about the fact that TMC MPs are coming here only to take political advantage. The protesting women asked the question in a sharp tone, “When the lady doctor was brutalized and murdered at RG Kar Medical College, where was Abhishek Banerjee? Why did he not come then?”
Abhishek seen in torn shirt and police helmet
Many videos of this entire incident are also going viral on social media. It can be clearly seen in the video that the situation had become so out of control that the security personnel had to make a lot of efforts to save Abhishek Banerjee. To protect him from the attackers, he was made to wear a police helmet. Amidst the huge uproar, Abhishek Banerjee somehow reached the house of victim Sanju Karmakar in a torn shirt and met his family. During this period, there was an atmosphere of heavy tension in the area.
‘They want to kill me’, Banerjee blames BJP
After this violent clash and attack, Abhishek Banerjee spoke to the media and by showing his torn shirt, he directly put the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the dock. He said, “Look what they have done to me. All this was done according to a pre-planned script. Is this their democracy? Not even a month has passed since the election results and this is the condition of law and order here. Police is nowhere to be seen. These people want to kill me.” He made it clear that until the local police provides complete security to the families of the victims, they will not move from there.
Now Trinamool Congress will go directly to the High Court
Angered by the attack, the TMC MP has now decided to raise the matter at the legal and constitutional level. Abhishek Banerjee said that the entire incident of attack on him was captured on camera and he has solid evidence of it. He announced, “They wanted to remove me from the way. I will directly approach the High Court regarding this entire incident and will tell the truth to the court. Along with this, we will also complain about this matter to the Governor of the state.” After this incident, political activity is at its peak in Sonarpur and surrounding areas and security arrangements have been tightened.
