Will DK Shivakumar include Siddaramaiah’s son in the cabinet in Karnataka?
Political activities have intensified regarding the formation of the new government in Karnataka. Meanwhile, Congress leader Bilkis Bano said on Saturday (30 May 2026) that the party high command will take the decision to include Siddaramaiah’s son Yatindra Siddaramaiah in the cabinet. He said that the final decision on this issue will be taken by the Congress leadership only.
Responding to speculations about Yatindra Siddaramaiah being made a minister, Bilkis Bano said that she has no information about it and it is completely under the consideration of the high command. He said that demands are also being raised from the youth within the party and if the Congress leadership deems it appropriate then Yatindra can be made a minister.
Bilkis Bano said that Congress workers always respect the decisions of the party high command. He told that a meeting of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has been called at 4 pm on Saturday evening. The general secretary and observers of the party will attend this meeting, who will convey the message of the high command to the MLAs. After this further decision will be taken. Yathindra Siddaramaiah was seen leaving his Bengaluru residence on Saturday. After this the discussion intensified that he could be made a minister in the new government. However, no official announcement has been made by the party yet.
On the ongoing discussions regarding the post of Deputy Chief Minister, Bilkis Bano said that the final decision in this regard will also be taken by the Congress high command. He said that demands from different sections are coming from all over Karnataka. Backward classes and minority communities are also demanding their participation. In such a situation, the party leadership will take a decision keeping all the aspects in mind. Earlier on Friday, DK Shivakumar had said that the Congress Legislature Party meeting will be held in the presence of the party observer. After the suggestions and discussions taken in the meeting, the final decision will be taken after consulting the Congress high command.
On the question regarding the post of Chief Minister, Shivkumar said that first the leader of the Congress Legislature Party will be chosen, only after that the further process will be decided. He said that at present he too does not know when the leader of the legislature party will be elected. It is noteworthy that after the change of leadership in Karnataka, the process of formation of a new government is going on. Siddaramaiah had resigned from the post of Chief Minister on 28 May. He had said that he had taken this decision of his own free will and on the suggestion of the party leadership.
DK Shivakumar had recently met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi regarding the formation of the new government. During this, various issues related to leadership, Rajya Sabha elections and organization in the state were discussed. Now all eyes are fixed on the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party and the final decision of the high command.
