Ghaziabad. Asad, the main accused who was absconding in the murder case of 17-year-old student Surya Chauhan in Khoda police station area, died in a police encounter on Sunday morning. According to the police, accused Asad, who had a reward of Rs 50,000, fired on the police team while trying to escape arrest, in response to which he was seriously injured. Doctors declared him dead when he was taken to the hospital. After the incident, security arrangements have been tightened in Khoda and surrounding areas. Police and administration are continuously monitoring the situation.
Action taken on informer’s information
According to DCP Trans Hindon Dhawal Jaiswal, the police had received information that Asad, the main accused in the Surya murder case, was going to meet some of his associates in Khoda area and was planning to abscond with the money. Based on the information, the police intensified the combing operation and checking operation in the area. On Sunday morning, Asad was seen coming on a bike with one of his companions in Vasundhara area. The police tried to stop him, but it is alleged that he started firing at the police team. In retaliation, Asad was injured by a bullet. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. A constable posted at Khoda police station was also injured during the encounter. While one of Asad’s associates managed to escape from the spot, the search for him is ongoing. Police have recovered illegal pistol and bike from the possession of the accused.
The student was murdered on the day of Bakrid.
According to police investigation, on May 28, the day of Bakrid, Surya Chauhan, a class 11 student, was stabbed to death. On the complaint of family members, a case was registered against five accused. Investigation revealed that Surya and the main accused already knew each other. There was a dispute between the two regarding riding a bike. Later the accused invited Surya to show his sacrifice and come to the Eid party. It is alleged that after being called, he was attacked with a knife, due to which he died. According to sources, in the attack, the knife was deeply embedded in Surya’s body. The police have registered the case under the murder section and arrested many people including the father of the accused. Other suspects are also being interrogated.
There was commotion for hours before the funeral.
When Surya’s body reached his house after post-mortem on Saturday afternoon, there was huge tension in the area. The family members and local people refused to perform the last rites, demanding strict action against the accused, action against illegal constructions and justice. Talks continued between the administration and the family members for about four hours. Later, after getting assurance from the administration on security, financial assistance and other demands, the family got ready for the last rites. Surya’s last rites were performed at the Ghazipur cremation ground in the evening. During this, a large number of local people and representatives of various social organizations were present.
Viral video and investigation, tension in the area, security increased
A CCTV video related to the case also went viral on social media, in which some people are seen surrounding a young man. However, the police say that the video is from after the incident and it is being investigated. There is a tense atmosphere in Khoda area after the Surya murder case. Heavy police force has been deployed to deal with any untoward situation. Shops remained closed in many markets and movement of people was also affected. Police officials say that all aspects of the matter are being investigated. The search for the absconding accused is going on and every necessary step is being taken to maintain law and order.
