Many times, due to the death of the account holder, change in address or lack of documents, even family members are not able to access these assets. Under this facility, people will be able to get information about financial assets like bank deposits, insurance claims, amount related to shares, dividends and mutual fund investments. The government believes that this will help in returning the amount worth crores of rupees, which has been lying unclaimed for a long time, to its rightful owners.

It aims to make searching for financial assets simpler, faster and transparent. Getting information through online medium will save people’s time and also increase transparency in the process.

This initiative has been started under the ‘Your Capital, Your Rights’ campaign of the Central Government. The objective of this campaign is to make people aware about their financial assets and to ensure that the unclaimed amount reaches its rightful owner.
