The story of Akash Gupta of Basti district of UP, who changed the picture of the village.
After this, Prime Minister Modi narrated a wonderful and heart-touching story which has come from Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, which inspires the youth of the country. Praising Akash Gupta, a young resident of Basti, PM Modi said that Akash used to be very sad and troubled from within after seeing the poor condition of the historical ‘Manorama River’ flowing near his village. The reason for this was that the Manorama river which Akash had seen flowing absolutely clean, beautiful and lively during his childhood days, with the change of time and due to human carelessness, a huge amount of plastic and garbage started accumulating in that river. The filth of the river was increasing day by day.
Even in such adverse circumstances, Akash, like other people, did not choose the path of just cursing or complaining about the system. He firmly decided in his mind that he would not just complain against this situation, but would also move forward and make a new and solid beginning. Soon this idea of “No complaints, start” became the biggest mantra of Akash’s life.
Youth themselves entered the river with shovel and basket, awakened the spirit of cleanliness
To turn his resolution into reality, Akash Gupta first included some of his close friends with him in this campaign. They had no big machines or modern tools for cleaning; All they had in mind was a simple net, a few shovels, baskets and, most of all, strength, an unwavering resolve to transform something big.
Praising this group of youth, PM Modi said that all these enthusiastic youth used to enter the dirty river water without any hesitation and after hours of hard work, they used to take out the hyacinth spread in the river. They used to pull out tons of plastic and harmful waste stuck inside the water with their hands. You can get an idea of the hard work of these youth from the fact that many times these people together threw out huge garbage amounting to 50 to 60 kg from the chest of Manorama river in just one day.
The result of the continuous hard work of these youth was that gradually that entire part of the Manorama River once again started appearing as clean, beautiful and sparkling as before. When the shape of the river changed, the attention of many people from the surrounding villages was quickly attracted towards this wonderful work. Seeing this passion of the youth, a new awareness and sense of responsibility has arisen among the local people regarding their environment and cleanliness.
At the end of his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also talked about the security system of the country. Assuring the nation, he said in clear words, “In the coming times, we will work vigorously towards the development of indigenous weapons and further strengthening the mutual integration of our three forces – Army, Navy and Air Force.”
