In fact, the purpose of this three-day event is not just to complete a race, but to give a new impetus to tourism activities in these frontier areas located at the extreme ends of the country. Through this, the rich local culture of Uttarakhand will get a new identity at the national level. Also, the dream of making the youth aware about fitness, which was seen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the ‘Fit India’ campaign, is also being taken to these heights of the mountains. On the very first day of the event, 933 participants from 28 states across the country have created a new history by joining this campaign.

Cabinet Minister Bharat Singh Chaudhary gave the green signal

The official inauguration of this grand competition was done by the state cabinet and district in-charge minister Bharat Singh Choudhary by flagging off. Encouraging the runners on this occasion, he said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government is working day and night for the overall development of the border areas and promotion of tourism. In fact, this event has emerged as a very powerful medium to take the Prime Minister’s ‘Fit India’ campaign to the borders of the country.

Minister Choudhary laid special emphasis on the fact that when adventure sports and tourism activities will increase in these marginal villages, new avenues of employment will open for the local people. This will not only stop migration from the mountains, but these border villages, which are called the ‘second line of defense’ of the country, will become more economically and socially stronger.

Starting with a very difficult challenge of 75 kilometers

Talking about the competitions on the first day, the runners had to pass through very difficult routes. District Tourism Officer Arvind Gaur said that Niti Extreme Ultra Run It is being organized from 31 May to 2 June. On the inaugural day, the longest and challenging ultra run competition of 75 kilometers was organized between ‘Rimkhim-Neeti-Malari’. 117 brave participants entered the field to show their strength on this very difficult track. Apart from this, 118 runners displayed their strength and stamina brilliantly in the 42 kilometer ultra run organized between ‘Malari-Neeti-Malari’.

The tourism department is very excited about the schedule of the next two days. It is being told that in the coming days, half marathon events of 5, 10 and 21 kilometers will be organized, in which participation of local youth will also be seen. At the same time, this entire exciting journey will conclude with the 30 kilometer ‘MTB Challenge’ (mountain biking) competition to be organized between Gamsali to Malari.

As powerful as the beginning of this Khel Mahakumbh was, its eve was equally colourful. A grand cultural evening was organized by the Tourism Department in Malari village on Saturday night. When the famous folk singer of Uttarakhand Kishan Mahipal took the stage and presented one of his popular Pahari songs, the whole atmosphere got colored in the colors of Devbhoomi. Despite the severe cold, the runners and local villagers from different states of the country could not stop themselves from dancing and continued enjoying this cultural festival till late night.

The administration has also made concrete arrangements in terms of security and order. On this special occasion of the inauguration, Minister of State Harak Singh, District Panchayat President Daulat Singh Bisht, BKTC Vice President Rishi Prasad Sati, BJP District President Gajpal Bartwal along with Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli and Secretary Tourism Dhiraj Garbyal were also present. The presence of top officers and soldiers of the Indian Army and ITBP doubled the enthusiasm of the runners. Seeing the athletes running on these remote and beautiful roads of the country, it is clear that in the coming days, this frontier area of ​​Uttarakhand is going to become the biggest center of adventure tourism.
