New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in the office of the Ministry of Education’s School of Planning and Architecture on the development line of the ITO area in capital Delhi on Monday morning. The flames spread panic among the attendees. According to preliminary information, the fire broke out on the second and third floors of the building. As soon as the fire was reported, several fire tenders rushed to the spot and started efforts to douse the fire.

According to the Delhi Fire Department, they received information about the fire on the second floor of the Education Ministry office on Vikas Marg. Fire brigade units were immediately dispatched to the spot. The teams reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire.

No casualties

According to preliminary information, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Relievingly, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, as a precautionary measure, people inside the building have been safely evacuated and the entire area is being checked.

Clarification from Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education clarified, “Ministry of Education is located at Duty Bhawan-2, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road, New Delhi. Fire incident The fire broke out in the campus of School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) at ITO, New Delhi. This clarification is being given to prevent any misinformation about the fire incident. Moreover, the fire was minor and was soon brought under control. No loss of life or property was reported by the Ministry.”

Congress targets the government

Congress has targeted the government over this incident. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on Instagram, “The origin of the fire in the Ministry of Education is unknown, but the real fire has been started by the BJP through its malfeasance in the education system. BJP has turned education into a looting business through the paper-cutting mafia. This case, which started with the Vyapam scam, is now affecting CBSE students.”
