Driving Tips: Make night driving safe, increase headlight brightness in these ways
Driving Tips: Proper functioning of car headlights is very important for safe driving at night. However, over time, the brightness of headlights begins to decrease, affecting visibility on the road and increasing the risk of an accident. The good thing is that increasing headlight brightness doesn’t always require an expensive upgrade. By adopting some easy measures it can be made better than before.
Why does the headlight light reduce?
Over time, a layer of dust, dirt, and oxidation builds up on the headlight lens. This causes the lenses to become cloudy and the intensity of light reduces. Apart from this, old bulbs, weak battery, bad wiring and wrong headlight alignment can also be the major reasons for this.
Regular cleaning is the easiest solution
According to experts, headlights should be cleaned every 15 days with mild soap and microfiber cloth. If the lenses have become excessively fogged, a headlight restoration kit can be used. This removes oxidation and improves lighting.
Upgrade to LED or HID bulbs
If your car still has traditional halogen bulbs, LED or HID bulbs may prove to be a better option. These give more brightness and also reduce energy consumption. Always choose certified and high quality bulbs while purchasing.
Alignment and wiring check necessary
Many times, despite having sufficient light, the light does not fall on the road in the right direction due to wrong alignment. The headlight alignment, battery, alternator and wiring system should be checked during routine servicing.
Take care for safe night driving
Fog lights and additional driving lights can be helpful in areas with low visibility, but use them only in accordance with legal regulations. Clean lenses, proper alignment and good quality bulbs can make your night driving safer and more comfortable.
