Skoda Octavia RS Scores 5-Star Rating In Australian NCAP Crash Tests
India loves the Skoda Octavia RS for its performance and dynamics. The carmaker launched the latest generation Octavia RS here in 2025, at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 49.99 Lakh. It was brought as CBUs (Completely Built Units) in limited numbers. The second batch is expected to arrive later this year. Ahead of the same, the new-generation Octavia has now been crash-tested by Australian NCAP. The car scored a full five-star safety rating.
Australasian NCAP or ANCAP is often noted for its strict protocols. ANCAP assesses ADAS performance to calculate the overall safety ratings. Its official website mentions that the ratings apply to all variants and fuel options of the Octavia including the RS.
The Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), Vulnerable Road User protection (VRU), and Safety Assists (SA) were all put to test. In both AOP and COP tests, it scored five stars.
In Adult Occupant Protection, the car scored 34.22 points out of 40- roughly 85 per cent. In the frontal offset crash test, it scored 4.02 out of 8. Here, the impact was made at a speed of 50 kmph. The driver’s chest enjoyed marginal protection while the legs got adequate protection. The protection to the front passenger’s left leg was also rated as adequate/
In the full-width frontal crash test, the driver had adequate chest protection. Protection to the rear passenger was rated as marginal. The overall scores stood at 7.33 out of 8. The Octavia scored full marks in side impact tests- 6 out of 6. All critical areas of the driver were protected well.
An oblique pole test was also conducted. The car scored 5.29 points out of 6, and the driver’s chest protection was rated as marginal. In the Whiplash protection test, it scored 3.58/4. It scored full marks (4/4) in the far side impact and rescue and extrication tests (4/4). All doors of the car could open even after the impact.

In Child Occupant Protection tests, the overall scores stood at 40.04 out of 49- translating to roughly 81%. In the front dynamic test, the 10-year-old dummy enjoyed adequate protection. The neck protection was rated as poor. Protection to the six-year-old dummy was rated as good. Overall, the car scored 14.23/16 in this test.
In side dynamic test, it scored 7/8. The chest protection for the 10-year-old dummy was poor while that for the six-year-old one was good. It scored 11.81/12 in restraint installation and 7/13 in on-board safety features. In the Vulnerable Road User protection (VRU) tests, the car scored 51.39/63. It performed well in ADAS evaluation tests as well.

The Octavia has strong brand recall in India and the RS is the sportier version. It looks sportier and has more aggressive bumpers, sportier trims, RS badges, 19-inch wheels, rear lip spoiler and more. Inside, the Octavia RS has Suedia/leather upholstery, sports seats at the front, and Red contrast stitching.
It will have features like a 10-inch virtual cockpit, 12.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, 675W 11-speaker Canton sound system, head up display (HUD), wireless charger, 360-degree camera, powered tailgate, level 2 ADAS, and more.

Underpinning the Octavia RS will be Volkswagen Group’s MQB Evo platform. The performance sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine making 263hp and 370 Nm. It is mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox and can do the 0-100kph sprint in just 6.4 seconds.
