WhatsApp will bring a new security cover! Users will get scam alert as soon as suspicious message arrives
Tezzbuzz Desk- WhatsApp is preparing a new feature to protect against fake messages and online fraud, there will be no impact on privacy.
Amidst the increasing cases of online fraud and cyber fraud, WhatsApp is preparing to further strengthen the security of its users. According to reports, the company is working on a new “Scam Alert” feature, which will identify suspicious messages and warn users in time.
The purpose of this feature is to protect people from possible fake and fraudulent messages coming from unknown numbers. The special thing is that this entire system will work on the user’s phone only, due to which the privacy of the chat and end-to-end encryption will be completely protected.
You will get immediate warning on suspicious messages
A glimpse of this feature has been seen in the Android beta version of WhatsApp. According to reports, if a message from an unknown number appears to be suspicious activity, the app will show a warning to the user in the same chat window.
Along with this, the user will also be told that the person sending the message is not saved in his contact list. In such cases, the user will be able to immediately block or report that number. At the same time, if he finds the message safe then the option to continue the conversation will also be available.
The investigation will be done on the phone itself, the data will not go to the server.
WhatsApp claims that the scam alert feature will be completely based on on-device technology. This means that no message will be sent to Meta or WhatsApp’s servers for checking.
Message recognition and analysis will happen directly on the user’s smartphone. This will maintain the security of end-to-end encryption and private conversations will not reach any third party.
Experts believe that this method will provide additional security to the users and also protect their privacy.
Users will get complete control
WhatsApp is also developing a new transparency system, through which users will be able to see when and on which messages the scam alert feature was activated.
Records of these activities will be stored only on the user’s device and will not be shared with the Company. According to reports, this feature will initially be off by default and users will be able to activate it as per their need by going to Settings.
Beta testing may start soon
Currently the Scam Alert feature is in the development stage. It is expected that it will be released to beta testers first. After successful testing, it can be made available to WhatsApp users around the world in the upcoming updates.
If this feature is launched, it could prove to be the most important security update of WhatsApp to protect against online fraud and fake messages.
