New Delhi: Hero MotoCorp, one of the country’s largest two-wheeler companies, is now going to take a big step in the field of alternative fuel technology. Tomorrow the company is going to introduce India’s first motorcycle which will run on 100 percent ethanol fuel. This step is being considered an important achievement for the Indian automobile industry. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will also be present on this special occasion.
India’s first pure ethanol motorcycle
The flex-fuel motorcycles available in India so far can run on combinations ranging from E20 to E85. For example, a mixture of ethanol and petrol is used in bikes like Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 Flex Fuel and Honda CB300F Flex Fuel. Hero’s new bike will be a step ahead in this matter. According to reports, this motorcycle has been designed to run on 100 percent ethanol. If this happens, it will be the first bike in the Indian two-wheeler industry to use completely ethanol fuel.
Government’s plan will get big support
The Government of India has been rapidly pursuing the ethanol blending program for the last few years. Its main objective is to reduce dependence on petrol and diesel and to reduce the import of foreign crude oil. To promote ethanol vehicles, work is also being done to increase the availability of ethanol across the country. In such a situation, this new bike of Hero can further strengthen the green fuel mission of the government.
Ethanol technology has already been demonstrated
Hero MotoCorp showcased its ethanol technology for the first time at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. During that time the company had introduced the flex-fuel version of its popular Hero HF Deluxe. This model was developed at the company’s Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. It was fitted with a 100cc BS6 engine, which could run on ethanol blends ranging from E20 to E85. Now it is believed that Hero is going to take this technology further and launch a motorcycle running on pure ethanol.
