Politics heats up on CBSE OSM controversy, Rahul Gandhi and Kejriwal demand resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan
CBSE OSM Controversy: The controversy that started regarding CBSE exam results and OSM contract is not showing any signs of stopping. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has made a direct attack on Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and targeted the Modi government at the Centre. Rahul Gandhi alleged that the future of 18.5 lakh students has been played with and the government is playing the game of transfer..transfer..instead of giving answers.
The opposition has intensified the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, targeting the Modi government over the transfer of the Chairman and Secretary of the Board amid the CBSE On-Screen Marking (OSM) system controversy. Congress and Aam Aadmi Party leaders accused the government of suppressing the matter instead of responding.
Rahul Gandhi asked for resignation
Rahul Gandhi posted on social media platform The party said that Dharmendra Pradhan has no right to continue in his post.”
The Congress leader wrote alleging that the CBSE Chairman – Transfer. CBSE Secretary – Transfer. A one-member “investigation” committee – Formed. And the real person responsible for the matter, Dharmendra Pradhan, is safe. Congress said that the officers who were there have been removed but the responsible ministers are being saved. This is not accountability – This is a cover-up. He said that our demand remains the same even today, the Education Minister should be dismissed and there should be an independent judicial inquiry. These demands are not a month-old internal file of the Modi government which we will forget.

Taking a dig at the Modi government, Rahul Gandhi said that if the Prime Minister had cared about the 18.5 lakh CBSE students, he would have removed Dharmendra Pradhan long ago. The contract was given to the controversies-embroiled company COEMPT under the supervision of Dharmendra Pradhan and Modi government. Although CBSE and the related company have denied the allegations of corruption, the Central Government has ordered an investigation into the matter.
Congress leaders raised questions
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also raised questions on the government’s action. Expressing doubt over the transfer of CBSE officials immediately after the meeting of the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Education, he said that instead of fixing the accountability of the political leadership, the government is trying to put the responsibility on the bureaucrats.

At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Chief Minister of the capital Delhi Arvind Kejriwal also criticized the Modi government and raised the question that after such a big controversy, merely transferring the CBSE Chairman and Secretary is not enough action. Is this a punishment or an attempt to protect the officers?
What is the CBSE OSM portal controversy?
In fact, recently on social media, CBSE Student Nisarg Adhikari had claimed that he found many security flaws in CBSE’s OSM portal in February 2026. While sharing some screenshots and technical details of the same, the student said that there were shortcomings in the portal with the help of which anyone could login as an examiner. Due to this limitation, anyone can gain access to check and number copies. Nisarg said that before making this information public, it had sent the complete report to CERT-In i.e. Indian Computer Emergency Response Team working under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
