According to a report by Pakistani media outlet The Dawn, a man named Ghulam Hussain had filed an application in the Lahore High Court. In this petition, he had claimed that his wife, Shabnam Bibi, was allegedly kept in illegal custody by her previous family (her daughters and relatives).

When Shabnam Bibi was produced before the court, she told the judge that she had married Ghulam Hussain and she wanted to live only with him as per her wish. Respecting the mutual consent and legal rights of both the people, the court allowed them to live together.

When her own mother refused to recognize her daughters

After the court’s decision, when Shabnam came out of the courtroom, her eight daughters, who were already there, fell at her feet and started crying loudly. One of the crying daughters told the media that inside the courtroom and in the presence of the judge, their mother had refused to recognize or accept them as her daughters.

When the father passed away, the mother not only refused to recognize her eight young daughters but also remarried.

The girls grabbed their mother’s pallu and started pleading her to return home; But, his plea had no impact on Shabnam’s heart at all. In a viral video, her youngest daughter is seen screaming and crying loudly on the road and saying ‘Ammi let’s go home’, while Shabnam walks forward without stopping, holding her new husband’s hand.

Two videos of this incident are currently spreading like wildfire on social media platforms. In one video, the daughters can be seen running after their mother and crying in grief, yet Shabnam’s indifference is clearly visible.
