Amidst the worsening situation in the country and states, senior leaders of the opposition alliance India (INDIA) block may hold a meeting in Delhi on June 8. According to PTI, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi may attend the meeting. In this meeting, a joint strategy to counter the BJP led government and strengthen opposition unity will be discussed.
Discussions are also possible on the recent assembly elections and changing political equations in many states. Let us tell you that earlier such a meeting was held at Rahul Gandhi’s residence in 2025. At that time Rahul had described the meeting as successful.
Difficult for AAP to join
According to reports, DMK is unlikely to attend this meeting after Congress supported TVK in Tamil Nadu. However, efforts are being made to include TVK in this meeting. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had already publicly distanced itself from this alliance, hence the party will not attend this meeting. In this meeting, Mamata Banerjee is expected to raise the issue of alleged attacks on TMC leaders in Bengal and garner support from India Bloc parties.
