Thane Municipal Corporation’s first CBSE board school will start in Kharegaon from June 8.

Mumbai The first CBSE board school of Thane Municipal Corporation will start in Kharegaon from June 8. ‘Thane Municipal Corporation – Crystal House’ will be run in collaboration with CBSE board school Crystal House India. Through this school, students will be provided good education, modern facilities and all kinds of development opportunities. Metropolitan Municipality Commissioner Saurabh Rao reviewed the functioning of this school on Tuesday. On this occasion, Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode, Deputy Commissioner Education Dr. Mithali Sancheti, Suburban Engineer Vikas Dhole, Vinod Pawar, Shubhangi Keswani and Crystal officials were present.

There is ‘Thane Municipal Corporation-Crystal House School’ near Sapphire Hospital at Kharegaon and Thane Municipal Corporation is providing the necessary infrastructure facilities for the school. It includes a library, science laboratory, computer room, language laboratory, separate space for sports and art departments, clean drinking water, toilets, as well as building maintenance, painting, lifts, CCTV system and fire extinguishing systems.

In the meeting, the Commissioner instructed the concerned department to complete all these works before June 8. At present, the work of painting the school building, installing grills on the windows, preparing the playground, repairing the fire extinguishing system and repairing the lift is in the final stage. It was told in the meeting that the preparations for starting the school are almost complete. The responsibilities of Crystal House management include appointment of trained teachers and non-teaching staff, providing free education to students from pre-primary to class 12, providing uniforms, books and study materials, arranging food for the students and providing transport facilities to the school. Apart from this, emphasis will also be laid on providing higher education, career guidance and employment based training to the students. Now classes from nursery to secondary will be started.

The Commissioner said that with this initiative, the students of Thane will get education of national level CBSE curriculum and will create new opportunities for good quality education for students from economically weaker sections.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Thane Municipal Corporation and Crystal House on 30 September 2025. This agreement will be valid for 30 years. The Municipal Corporation has given administrative approval to open CBSE board schools from pre-primary to class 12th.
