UPSC Prelims 2026 Result: Possible by June 10

The result of UPSC Civil Services and IFS Preliminary Exam 2026 is likely to be released by June 10. After the release of the result, candidates will be able to check their name and qualification status in the merit list through roll number.

New Delhi: Lakhs of candidates waiting for UPSC Prelims 2026 Result may get relief soon. The result of Civil Services Preliminary Examination and Indian Forest Service Examination is likely to be declared by the Union Public Service Commission by the second week of June. Along with the result, merit list and list of successful candidates can also be released.

The wait for UPSC Prelims 2026 Result may end soon

The wait of lakhs of candidates who appeared for UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 and Indian Forest Service (IFS) Preliminary Examination may end soon. This examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was conducted on 24 May 2026 at various examination centers across the country. After the examination, the Commission had released the provisional answer key and invited objections from the candidates till May 31. Now all eyes are on the announcement of the result.

Result may come by second week of June

Looking at the pattern of result release of previous years, it is believed that the result of UPSC Preliminary Exam 2026 can be declared by the second week of June. Although the Commission has not yet confirmed the official date of the result, the work of preparing the result is likely to reach the final stage after the completion of the examination and answer key process. In such a situation, candidates are advised to keep an eye on the official website of UPSC regularly.

UPSC preliminary examination is the first stage of the civil services selection process. Only the candidates who are successful in this examination are eligible to appear in the next stage i.e. the main examination. Therefore, the result of Prelims is considered very important for lakhs of candidates. Every year a large number of candidates appear for this examination, but only the candidates who score the prescribed cutoff are able to reach the next stage.

List of selected candidates will be released along with merit list

With the declaration of the result, the Commission will also release the list of selected candidates. This list is provided in PDF format, which contains the roll numbers of the successful candidates. With the help of their roll number, candidates will be able to find out whether they have qualified for the main examination or not.

Apart from this, information related to top performing candidates can also be revealed after the result. Although All India Rank (AIR) and final toppers list is usually released after the entire selection process is over, the official list of successful candidates is made available along with the result of preliminary examination.

Candidates can start preparing for the main examination

For the candidates waiting for the result, this is the time to strengthen their preparation for the main examination. UPSC Mains exam is considered to be the most important stage of the civil services selection process. In this, the subject knowledge, analytical ability and writing skills of the candidates are evaluated. The main examination consists of a total of nine papers from different subjects on the basis of which the candidates are evaluated.

Candidates who are successful in the main examination are later called for personality test i.e. interview. The final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Interview and Mains Examination. According to this list, appointments are made in various central services including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS). In such a situation, the announcement of Prelims result will pave the way for the next important stage of the selection process for lakhs of candidates.
