Why was Tim David banned?

Actually, during the final of IPL 2026, Tim David had thrown a bag of ice towards umpire Nitin Menon. Taking action on this action of Tim David, BCCI has banned him for one match, due to which now he will not be able to play the first match of IPL 2027. Along with this, BCCI also imposed a fine of 50 percent of the match fee on him and also gave him 2 demerit points for the Level 1 offence.

What is the whole matter?

Actually this incident happened in the 10th over of the first innings. According to IPL, Tim David had reacted aggressively to the fall of the wicket by throwing a bag of ice towards umpire Nitin Menon. After this action of the Australian player, he has been found guilty of violating Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct. According to the report, David has also admitted his crime and accepted the punishment given by match referee Javagat Srinath. This was his fifth demerit point of this season, due to which he has been banned for one match.

Tim David’s performance in IPL 2026

Talking about the performance of 30-year-old star batsman Tim David in IPL 2026, he has played a total of 16 matches this season, in which he has scored 305 runs with the help of 22 fours and 23 sixes. This season, only one half-century has come from David’s bat.
