Good news for farmers in Bihar, government will provide assistance of ₹ 2.70 lakh!
Patna. The government is continuously implementing new schemes to increase the income of farmers and encourage modern farming in Bihar. In this context, a special scheme is being run to promote the cultivation of dragon fruit. Under this scheme, farmers are being given financial assistance of up to Rs 2.70 lakh per hectare for planting dragon fruit orchards.
How much subsidy to farmers
Bihar government is giving subsidy up to 60% of the total cost for dragon fruit cultivation. On the estimated cost (approximately ₹6.5 lakh per hectare), the government provides a subsidy of ₹2.70 lakh per hectare. This amount is given in installments.

The biggest feature of dragon fruit is that it does not require much water for its cultivation. It can give good yields even in relatively less fertile land. Farmers in areas where irrigation facilities are limited can also cultivate it. Apart from this, the risk of damage due to weather conditions is also considered less as compared to many traditional crops.
