Australians beat Pakistan by 41 runs to level ODI series 1-1

In the second ODI, Australia defeated Pakistan by 41 runs to level the three-match ODI series 1-1. The series-deciding Game 4 will now take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Australia, who batted first after losing the toss, had a weak start. Wicketkeeper batsman Alex Carey was out for zero runs in the first ball of the innings. Then Toli made a comeback after becoming an important partnership in the middle order. Cameron Greenley scored 53 runs while captain Josh Inglisley contributed 51 runs.

On the basis of this innings, Australia scored 231 runs after losing 9 wickets in 50 overs. Pakistan’s Laghi Shahin Afridi took 3 wickets. Haris Rauf, Arafat Minhas and Maaz Sadakatale took 2 wickets each.

Chasing the target of 232 runs, Pakistan had a disappointing start. Toli lost the first wicket by 4 runs and the second wicket by 6 runs. Pakistan were under pressure after scoring 33 runs and losing three wickets. Then Pakistan bowled out 190 runs in the innings.

Pakistan’s leading all-rounder Shadab Khan scored the highest score of 71 runs. Wicketkeeper Ghazi Ghorile added 37 runs and Arafat Minhsale added 33 runs. No batsman can form a big partnership.

Pakistan’s top order batting again looked weak. Other leading batsmen including Babar Azam could not perform as per expectations.

Nathan Ellisley played a decisive role in Australia’s victory by taking 4 wickets. He was declared player of the match. Also Matthew Sertley took 3 wickets while Matthew Kuhnemann, Adam Zampa and Tanveer Sanghale also took important wickets.

With Yes’s win, the three-match series was leveled at 1-1. Now the third and final ODI will be held on 4 June at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where the series winner will be crowned champions.
