Hotel was running without fire NOC
This accident took place at Floris Stay Hotel in Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar. The fire spread so fast that many people inside could not come out. 21 people lost their lives in the accident. Initial investigation revealed that the hotel was running without fire NOC. There were no arrangements for fire safety.
There were 4 times more rooms than planned
Another major negligence has come to light in the investigation. The hotel had permission to run only 6 rooms. But about 25 rooms were made on the spot. Four times more rooms were being operated than the stipulated capacity. Due to large crowd, there was chaos when the fire broke out.
Only one gate became the cause of death
According to the police, safety rules were grossly ignored in the building. There was only one way of entry and exit in the entire building. People did not get a chance to get out when the fire broke out. Due to having only one gate, there was difficulty in the rescue operation. The fire brigade had difficulty going inside.
Section of culpable homicide in FIR
It is noteworthy that in this case the police has already registered an FIR under many serious sections including culpable homicide. Now after the detention of the hotel owner, the scope of investigation has increased. Police are trying to find out who else is responsible for breaking the rules and negligence. The role of hotel staff and administration in the accident is also being investigated.
