Hurt by Congress’s betrayal, DMK leaves India alliance, but will support them

The official alliance of Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has broken. This was also approved on Thursday. DMK will sit separately from Congress in Parliament from now on. Regarding this, approval to sit separately from the Congress was received from the Lok Sabha Secretariat on Thursday itself.

DMK has announced today itself that it will not participate in the India Alliance meeting to be held in the national capital Delhi on June 8. The party has expressed concern over the fraud committed by the Congress Party after the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. However, MK Stalin-led DMK has expressed confidence in the parties of the India Alliance apart from the Congress.

In fact, after the assembly elections, Congress extended its support to Chief Minister Vijay’s party TVK. DMK is angry about this. DMK has issued a statement regarding this.

What did DMK say?

The party said, ‘Considering the sentiments of the DMK cadre, who are deeply saddened by the betrayal of the DMK by the Congress Party after the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Respecting those sentiments, DMK will not participate in the India Alliance meeting to be held in New Delhi on June 8.

DMK has told that Congress party will participate in this meeting hence it will not attend it. The party further said, ‘Although the DMK will not attend this meeting, it will, as always, continue to raise its voice on issues affecting the well-being of the country which may be brought up by other parties participating in the meeting.’

The whole story of resentment

Let us tell you that in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, TVK had missed the majority of 118 seats, but it claimed to form the government with external support. Congress broke away from its old ally DMK and extended its support to Vijay’s party.

DMK youth wing chief Udhayanidhi Stalin accused the Congress of backstabbing the DMK after reaping electoral benefits from the alliance. Also said that Congress should never be trusted again.
