‘Everything works in Delhi’, is this thinking becoming the biggest reason for accidents?
New Delhi: The capital of the country is considered the center of administration, law and surveillance system, but after every major accident, a question arises that why do such incidents happen despite safety rules? After the massive fire incident in Malviya Nagar’s Flourish Stay Hotel, an alleged comment revealed in the investigation has brought the entire system under question. It is being told that during interrogation, the hotel owner said that he was assured that “everything goes on in Delhi.”
question on arrangement
If this claim is true then the matter is not limited to just one hotel or its owner, rather it raises questions on the system where rules are in place but their compliance is not ensured. Often after accidents, investigation begins, those responsible are searched and action is announced, but the question remains as to why danger signs were not seen earlier.
This incident is not alone in Delhi. In recent times, fire incidents in Muzaffarpur and Hyderabad in Bihar also took the lives of many people. The circumstances of these accidents that occurred in three different cities may be different, but one similarity is clearly visible. Ignoring safety standards and failure of monitoring mechanisms.
Violation of many rules related to hotel operation
Investigation of Malviya Nagar fire incident has revealed that many rules related to hotel operation were not followed. According to sources, the hotel owner has claimed that he was told that fire NOC was not required as the height of the building was less than the prescribed limit. He also said that he was assured that there would be no problem regarding the expansion of the building and construction of additional rooms.
Now the police is trying to find out who were those people who gave such assurances to the hotel operator. In this case, hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj has been sent on police remand for four days, while the search for the hotel manager and other associates is going on.
Investigation intensified after the accident
After the accident, the administration has intensified the investigation. Documents related to the building are being reviewed, fire safety standards are being examined and a safety audit campaign is being conducted across the city. Besides, compensation has also been announced for the families of the deceased and the injured.
