Sensational allegation by former Wipro employee, pressure created for religious conversion

Maharashtra: Cases related to religious persecution and forced religious conversion are not showing any signs of stopping. After the controversy that surfaced in Nashik-based Tata Consultancy Services unit, now the name of another big IT sector company Wipro in Pune has come into the headlines due to similar allegations. A former female employee of the company has made serious allegations against her senior officer, claiming that she was pressurized to convert and if she refused, her job was in danger.

What did the complaining woman tell?

The complainant woman told that she was working in Wipro office located in Hinjewadi, Pune from the year 2019 to 2025. According to him, his female manager worked from Bengaluru. She constantly inspired him to embrace Islam and follow the religious traditions associated with it. The woman alleges that with time this request turned into pressure and she started being mentally harassed due to her religious beliefs.

The woman says that when she refused to convert, the behavior towards her at the workplace became more harsh. He alleged that he was given a negative evaluation and warned of termination citing his poor performance. Due to increasing stress and mental pressure, he finally had to leave his job.

Alleging that satisfactory action was not taken in the case, the victim decided to seek legal help. He has lodged a complaint with Pune Police and has also contacted human rights related institutions of the state. After receiving the complaint, Hinjewadi police has started investigation. According to senior police officer Balaji Pandhare, the facts related to the case are being investigated and the internal documents of the company will also be examined.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also organized a press conference regarding this issue and made the allegations of the victim public. On the other hand, Wipro has said in its official response that the company does not accept any kind of discrimination, harassment or inappropriate behavior and its policy towards such complaints is completely strict. The company also said that necessary documents have been provided to the investigating agencies and it is fully cooperating in the investigation. At present the police investigation is going on and the truth of the case is waiting to be revealed.
