As soon as she left BJP, Annamalai made a big announcement, said- ‘We will start a new political movement’
Chennai: A big development was seen in the politics of Tamil Nadu on Friday, when former BJP state president K. After separating from the party, Annamalai made a big announcement regarding his future political direction. Immediately after resigning from BJP, he announced the beginning of a new political movement and made it clear that his journey will continue in politics. His decision has given rise to new discussions in Tamil Nadu politics.
After leaving BJP, Annamalai said that this decision was not easy for her. He told that for a long time he was thinking about whether his primary identity was that of a BJP worker or a representative of the Tamil community. According to Annamalai, he had informed the party leadership about his decision of resignation on December 4, 2025 itself. He said that the party had requested him to stay till the completion of the election process. After this he performed his responsibilities within the organization and then took the final decision.
New political movement announced
Annamalai said that now is the time to build a new political platform, which will work with the aim of bringing positive change in the state. He told that his new movement will try to take every section of the society along. He especially called upon the youth, professionals and technical experts to join this campaign. He believes that for the development of the state, new thinking and new working style is needed in politics.
Emphasis laid on changing the culture of politics
In his address, Annamalai also commented on the current political system of Tamil Nadu. He said that there is a need to move politics in the state beyond individualism and familyism. According to him, no person should be considered as MLA, MP or minister permanently. In a democracy, opportunities and responsibilities should keep changing with time. He said that this thinking will be the basic spirit of his new political movement.
The name of the movement will be ‘Hum Neta’
Annamalai named his new political platform as ‘Hum Neta’. He said that this will not be just a political organization but a public participation based movement. He also informed that Coimbatore-based APJ Abdul Kalam Center for Ethics and Politics will serve as an important center for this initiative. According to Annamalai, after his call, more than 47 thousand people have joined this movement in the initial phase itself.
BJP accepted the resignation
BJP President Nitin Nabin has accepted Annamalai’s resignation. With this his formal relationship with the party has ended. However, political analysts believe that Annamalai’s next step can create new equations in Tamil Nadu politics.
