Patna. An important information has been issued for the electricity consumers of Bihar, which may impact lakhs of people in the state. According to the electricity department, all online consumer services will remain temporarily closed for a total of 12 hours from Saturday 5 pm to Sunday morning 5 am.
During this period, all digital services like electricity bill payment, smart prepaid meter recharge, new connection application, load and name change, bill correction will not be available.
Why will the services remain closed?
System maintenance work is being done by North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited. Due to this technical improvement and upgradation, it has been decided to temporarily stop online services. Electricity companies say that after this maintenance, faster, safer and modern digital services will be provided to the consumers.
Special advice for smart meter consumers
This temporary closure may have the biggest impact on consumers using smart prepaid meters. During this period, they will neither be able to recharge the meter nor update the balance. For this reason, the electricity department has appealed to the consumers to ensure adequate balance in their meters in time, so that there is no interruption in power supply.

The electricity department has clearly said that consumers should complete all their important electricity related work before 5 pm. This will avoid unnecessary trouble and service interruption.
