Will IAF get 5th generation fighter? Putin proposed Su-57 to India

Knews Desk– Russia has made a big proposal to further strengthen India’s air power. Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered India joint development and production of state-of-the-art Su-57 stealth fighter jet. This proposal has come at a time when the Indian Air Force has been looking for a 5th generation fighter aircraft for a long time and the indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project may take time to be fully ready.

While talking to international media, Putin said that Russia is ready to further advance defense cooperation with India. He said that Moscow can not only provide Su-57 fighter aircraft to India, but is also willing to cooperate in its development, technological upgradation and transfer of critical defense technologies. Putin also said that the possibilities for cooperation in the defense sector between India and Russia are unlimited.

This proposal of Russia is considered strategically important for India. The Indian Air Force currently does not have any 5th generation stealth fighter aircraft, while the military capabilities of neighboring countries are continuously increasing. In particular, the possibility of Pakistan getting J-35AE stealth fighters from China has changed the regional security equations.

In such a situation, the proposal of Su-57 can give India an opportunity to acquire modern stealth technology and advanced air combat capability. Defense experts believe that if this agreement goes ahead, it will give a new boost to India’s air power and could facilitate indigenous defense projects as well as access to cutting-edge technology.
