Silent Killer: This bad habit has become the biggest enemy of the hearts of youth.

In the last few years, a very scary and worrying change has been seen on the health front. Heart diseases and sudden heart attacks, once considered a disease of old age, are now affecting the youth. The news of sudden death of youth while working out in the gym, dancing or playing while laughing is shocking everyone. According to medical science and cardiologists, there is no mysterious reason behind this serious condition, but it is a very common lifestyle habit of today’s generation. This bad habit has become the biggest enemy of the heart of the youth and it directly doubles the risk of heart attack.

Compromise on sleep and habit of staying awake till late night is taking a heavy toll. According to health experts, the habit of not getting enough sleep and spending screen time on smartphones, laptops or OTT platforms till late night among today’s youth is proving to be the most dangerous. It has become clear from medical research that youth who sleep less than 6 hours daily have double the risk of heart attack and cardiac arrest compared to others. When we don’t get enough sleep, our body’s natural clock (circadian rhythm) gets disrupted, which puts extra pressure on the heart and increases the chances of blockage in the arteries.

Chronic stress and bad eating habits spoil the game Along with this deadly habit, the hectic life of the youth, career pressure and chronic stress are adding fuel to the fire. Due to stress, the level of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline increases in the body, which directly uncontrollable blood pressure and heart rate. On top of this, consumption of junk food, excessive caffeine, smoking and alcohol makes the heart veins weak and narrowed. Lack of physical activity i.e. the habit of working sitting at one place for hours is also becoming the main reason for blockage at an early age.

Do not ignore these initial symptoms of heart attack at all It is often seen that youth are very careless about their health and ignore the signals received from the body considering them as minor. Doctors say that if you often feel heaviness or uneasiness in the chest, sweat excessively without any reason, feel short of breath even after walking a little or have constant acidity and pain in the jaw and back, then do not ignore it at all. All these symptoms can be an early alarm of heart weakness or an upcoming heart attack, as soon as they appear, a doctor should be contacted immediately.
