Dissatisfaction regarding departments in Karnataka government, CM Shivkumar said – ‘All disputes have been resolved’

The resentment that started over the division of departments in the new government of Karnataka has posed an initial challenge to the government. However, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has claimed that all differences with senior leader Ramalinga Reddy have been resolved and now the situation is completely normal. According to the information received, a few days after the formation of the new government, a big controversy came to the fore when senior Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy resigned from the post of minister. Reddy said that he was promised the Bengaluru Development Ministry, but later he was given the Irrigation Department. Angered by this, he sent his resignation to the Chief Minister.

Resignation was sent on WhatsApp

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar told that Ramalinga Reddy had sent him his resignation on WhatsApp. However, later there was a long conversation between the two leaders and the matter was resolved. Shivakumar said that Reddy is his close friend and there is no problem between them. He also appealed to the media not to give too much importance to this issue.

Other ministers are also expressing their displeasure

After the resignation of Ramalinga Reddy, the discussion of dissatisfaction within the government intensified. Minister KH Muniyappa has also expressed his displeasure regarding his department. He has been given the Food and Civil Supplies Department. Muniyappa says that he is among the senior most leaders of the cabinet, hence he should have got a more important portfolio. He told that his message has been conveyed to the party leadership and Rahul Gandhi. He says that he wants to work in such a department where he can contribute more to the public. Minister Satish Jarkiholi also said that he had expressed his desire for the post of State Congress President. However, he made it clear that whatever decision the party leadership takes, he will accept it.

Questions also raised regarding women’s representation

DK Shivakumar government is facing criticism on another issue. No woman MLA has been made a minister in the first phase of the cabinet. Senior Congress leader Margaret Alva expressed displeasure over this and raised questions on women not getting adequate representation. On this the Chief Minister said that the expansion of the cabinet is still pending. In the coming time, women leaders will also be given proper representation in the government. It is noteworthy that DK Shivkumar took oath as Chief Minister along with 13 ministers on June 3.
