15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi might actually be the most talked-about cricketer in the world right now. The young batting sensation from Bihar, India, has lit the cricketing world on fire over the last year, culminating in him winning the Orange Cap and the MVP award in this year’s IPL while breaking several records.
Sooryavanshi became the youngest cricketer ever to play a senior-level T20 match at the age of 13 in 2024 when he represented Bihar in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match. Earlier that year, he made his Ranji Trophy debut, becoming the fourth-youngest player to debut in the historic competition.
But debuting young is only half the climb. The talent Vaibhav has displayed against players over twice his age across all formats has been splendid. In the months of June and July, India will go on a limited-overs tour to Ireland and England. The Men in Blue will play two T20Is against Ireland before battling the Three Lions in five T20s and three ODIs.
In the 15-man squad announced for the T20Is for this European tour, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has found a place. On this tour, he is expected to make his senior team debut. If so, he can become the second-youngest player to make an international debut for a Test-playing nation.
We all know Sooryavanshi’s exploits in the IPL. In the biggest franchise domestic cricket league in the world, the 15-year-old has played 23 games and has scored 1028 runs for the Rajasthan Royals. In the 2026 season alone, he scored 776 runs with an average of 48.50 and an insane strike rate of 237.30.

But how has he fared in other competitions and other formats of the game? Fairly well, actually. Let’s look at his stats elsewhere, starting with Under-19 ODIs. Sooryavanshi has played 25 YODIs, in which he has scored 1412 runs at an average of 52.48 and a strike rate of 165.72.
He was a part of the triumphant India squad in the 2026 U19 World Cup. In that competition, he was named the Player of the Tournament with 439 runs in seven games at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.50. He was also the Player of the Match in the final, where he scored 175 runs in just 80 balls.
He has also played six YTest matches against Australia U19 and England U19 in Australia and England. In the six matches where he represented the India U19 team in whites, he scored 331 runs in 10 innings, scoring two 100s and batting at an average of 33.10 at a strike rate of 136.77 in tough conditions.
Vaibhav also played for the India A side in the 2025 Asia Cup Rising Stars Tournament. While India lost to Bangladesh A in the semi-final, Sooryavanshi scored 239 runs in four matches at an average of 59.75 and an unbelievable strike rate of 243.87.
Now we come to his exploits in domestic cricket. Across two seasons, he has played eight games in India’s premier List A competition, the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In these eight games, he has scored 353 runs at an average of 44.12 and a strike rate of 164.95.
190 of these runs came against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2025-26 season. With this innings, he became the youngest List A centurion for India. In this innings, he scored the fastest List A century ever in 59 balls, breaking Ab de Villiers’ 64-ball record he set in 2015 against the West Indies.
Sooryavanshi has represented Bihar in seven Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches, India’s premier domestic T20 competition. Here, he has scored 210 runs at an average of 35 and a strike rate of 170.73. This includes a ton against Maharashtra in the 2025-26 season.
Vaibhav has also played eight Ranji Trophy matches for Bihar. Here, in 12 innings, he has made 207 runs at a poor average of 17.25. He is yet to score a century in first-class cricket.
