JMM made Baijnath Ram Rajya Sabha candidate
Ranchi. Political activities regarding Rajya Sabha elections have intensified in Jharkhand. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has declared senior leader Baijnath Ram as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections. With this announcement by the party, the ongoing speculations regarding seat sharing and possible differences within the grand alliance have come to an end for the time being. At the same time, after the nomination papers were purchased by four leaders on Saturday, new discussions regarding election equations have also gained momentum.
JMM’s Central General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya formally announced the name of Baijnath Ram in a press conference held at the state office in Ranchi on Saturday. He said that the party has decided to send him to Rajya Sabha after extensive deliberations. With the announcement of the name of the candidate by JMM, it has also been indicated that the grand alliance is united regarding the Rajya Sabha elections.
There was a discussion going on in the political circles for a long time that differences may emerge regarding the distribution of seats among the constituent parties of the Grand Alliance in the Rajya Sabha elections. But with Congress and JMM fielding one candidate each, a clear message of alliance unity has been sent. This also indicates that both the parties are moving forward under a common strategy regarding the elections.
However, discussions are still going on in political circles that JMM may consider fielding another candidate in the future. Despite this, in the current situation the balance and coordination within the alliance seems strong.
The Grand Alliance has also tried to maintain social balance through the selection of candidates. Congress has fielded Pranab Jha, who comes from the Brahmin community, as its candidate, while JMM has expressed confidence in Baijnath Ram, who represents the backward class. Political analysts believe that this move is part of a strategy to give representation to different social classes and give a broader political message.
Meanwhile, the election atmosphere has become more heated with four leaders purchasing nomination papers for two Rajya Sabha seats of Jharkhand on Saturday. Those who bought nomination papers include Congress’s Pranab Jha, JMM’s Baijnath Ram, besides Gaurav Vallabh and Parimal Nathwani. After these names surfaced, discussions regarding possible contests and new equations have intensified in political circles.
Various political speculations are also being made regarding the purchase of nomination papers by Gaurav Vallabh and Parimal Nathwani. Although it is not yet clear which candidates will finally contest the elections, but the nomination process has increased curiosity in the politics of the state.
Political experts believe that by making Baijnath Ram its candidate, JMM has tried to send the message that the party is not limited to tribal politics only, but is committed to taking all sections of the society along. At the same time, the party has distanced itself from allegations of nepotism and has indicated broad social participation and inclusive politics.
After the announcement of candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections and the start of the nomination process, now the political parties are eyeing the future strategy and possible electoral equations. In the coming days, the final list of candidates and political moves of the parties may give rise to new equations in the politics of Jharkhand.
