‘Yogi Model’ running in Bengal: CM Suvendu’s big announcement, loss of government property will be recovered from 2019 rioters

Bengal Government Property Damage Recovery: On the lines of Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari will also now compensate for the damage caused to government properties by the rioters. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has decided to investigate the incidents of violence, arson and damage to government property that took place during the CAA protests in 2019. The Chief Minister has instructed DGP Siddha Nath Gupta to conduct a detailed investigation in this regard.

CM ordered investigation

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday directed DGP Siddh Nath Gupta to investigate all complaints related to allegations of damage to government property during the 2019 anti-CAA protests. For this, a special cell will also be formed within the state police. This special cell will investigate these cases.

According to officials, the office of this special cell will be set up in the Chief Minister’s assembly constituency Bhawanipur. During the investigation, a new file of old cases will be prepared and the culprits will be identified.

The loss will be compensated by the miscreants.

The Bengal government has also decided that if allegations of damaging government property are proved against any person, compensation will be recovered from him as compensation for the loss. The cooperation of the Railway Police will also be taken to investigate the incidents of arson, looting and vandalism in the railways.

According to officials, most of the complaints were registered in Murshidabad district and Uluberia area of ​​Howrah. Apart from vandalism and arson at Beldanga police station, there were also allegations of incidents like burning of train and looting in Uluberia. The government says that these cases will be investigated impartially and legal action will be taken against the culprits and compensation for the loss caused to government property will be ensured.

There was a huge uproar in Bengal

In December 2019, it got legal recognition after the Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed by both houses of the Parliament and approved by the President. After the law was made, there were protests across the country. During this period there were widespread protests in West Bengal. There were allegations of violence, arson and damage to government properties in many parts of the state during the protests.

During this period, incidents of protesters setting buses on fire, damaging railway property and vandalism at many places were reported. Now after the change of power, the BJP government is preparing to take action in these matters.
