India became Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup champion, won gold by defeating Japan in the final
India vs Japan: The final match of the Asia Cup Under-18 tournament was played between India and Japan. India performed brilliantly in the final and won gold by defeating Japan. Japan was defeated by a margin of 4-1 in the final match played in Kakamigahara and captured the title. PM Narendra Modi has also congratulated the Indian team on winning the final. After winning the final, money has been showered on all the Indian players.
Great performance of Indian team
In the final match against Japan, the Indian team maintained pressure from the beginning. Ashish Tani scored a goal in the second minute of the first quarter. With this the Indian team has taken a lead of 1-0. After this, Ashish defeated the opposing team by scoring two more goals in the 28th and 34th minutes of the match. Japan could score only 1 goal. But India continued its brilliant game from the beginning.
After this, captain Ketan Kushwaha did wonders by scoring a goal in the 30th minute. Hockey India decided to give a reward of Rs 3 lakh each to all the Indian players for winning the gold medal. Apart from this, a cash award of Rs 1.5 lakh was announced for each member of the support staff.

After India’s victory, PM Modi also congratulated the team. He wrote, “A wonderful achievement by our young hockey players! Hearty congratulations to the Indian Under-18 Hockey Team on their victory in the 2026 Under-18 Asia Cup. The team displayed exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the tournament, which resulted in a memorable victory in the final. This victory also reflects the growing popularity of hockey among our youth. I wish the team all the best for their future endeavours.”
