Ponting broke his silence

Ponting supported Shreyas Iyer to become the captain. He said, “Whatever he has done in the last three-four years, it is really a big achievement of his. Just look at the IPL cricket of three years ago, he led KKR to the title. Last year he took Punjab to the finals and this year too he captained brilliantly, although we could not reach the qualifiers. But what impresses me the most about him is his behavior and handling himself in the last three-four years.

He further said, “I have endorsed him for this role and have told the Indian selectors that if they give him a chance, I don’t think they will be disappointed. As I said, it is a huge achievement. Iyer performed brilliantly

Shreyas Iyer also made Kolkata Knight Riders champion under his captaincy in IPL 2024. After this, he took Punjab Kings to reach the final in IPL 2025. Iyer has given a brilliant introduction to his captaincy in IPL.
