New electric cab service started in Delhi-NCR, 1000 EV taxis get green signal

A new option of cab service has become available for the people of Delhi-NCR. Delhi Government’s Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh flagged off 1000 app-based electric taxis of Vietnam’s mobility company Green SM. After starting services in Laos, Indonesia and Philippines, Green SM has now entered India as well. In the initial phase, the company’s electric cab services will be available in major areas of Delhi-NCR. It will later be expanded to other regions based on demand and user feedback.

During the program, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the Delhi government is committed to promote such environment-friendly initiatives which, along with reducing pollution, also improve the living standards of the people. He said that developing a clean and sustainable transport system in the capital is one of the priorities of the government. Sirsa said, “Initiatives like tree planting, clean technology and green mobility are playing an important role in building a healthy and better Delhi. The launch of electric taxi service is also an important achievement in this direction, which will strengthen the efforts to reduce pollution and protect the environment.” He said that increasing use of electric vehicles will not only reduce carbon emissions but will also provide people with the option of modern, clean and affordable transportation. The government will continue to encourage such initiatives in future also.

Premium facilities will be available in 7-seater electric taxis

Green SM’s electric taxi service is designed with premium customers in mind. The vehicles put on the roads by the company are completely owned by the company and have been launched specifically with the aim of providing a better travel experience. According to the company, 7-seater electric vehicles have been included in the service in the initial phase. These vehicles are mainly targeted at the premium customer segment, whose share in the cab market is estimated to be around 7 to 10 percent.

Giving priority to the safety of passengers, many modern safety features have been provided in the vehicles. These include CCTV cameras, emergency support button and in-car monitoring system. The objective of these facilities is to ensure safety during travel and to provide quick assistance in case of any emergency. The company said that customers will be able to use its services through mobile app. Apart from this, the facility to book taxi through hotline number will also be available, due to which passengers will get many options for booking.

Why did Green SM’s electric cab service start from Delhi-NCR only?

Vietnamese mobility company Green SM’s electric taxi service was first launched in Delhi-NCR because the region represents the diversity and travel patterns of the entire country. Manoj Ravikanti, Head of India Operations (COO) of the company, said that Delhi-NCR is a market where different types of travelers are found, from daily travelers to business and airport travelers. For this reason the company decided to start the first phase of its service from here.

He said that Delhi is considered a “real test market” of entire India due to its diversity and demand patterns. After the service is successful here, it will be expanded to other states also in a phased manner. The company also said that all the drivers involved in the service have been given special training. In this, special focus has been placed on aspects related to road safety, passenger behavior and customer service. Its aim is to provide a safer and better experience to the passengers.
