Ghaziabad News: In an encounter between the police and an accused carrying a reward of Rs 50 thousand in Loni police station area of ​​Ghaziabad, the accused carrying a reward of Rs 50 thousand was arrested. During the encounter, the accused was shot in both his legs, after which he was sent to the hospital for treatment in his injured condition.

Checking campaign started

According to the police, Loni police station had received information through an informer that on May 30, 2026, the accused with a reward wanted in the case of kidnapping and murder of Omkar Singh, resident of village Ganauli, was going to come towards Nithora Road. Based on the information, the police team started checking operation near Nithora underpass.

The accused was trying to escape

During checking, a suspicious person riding a bike was seen coming. The police signaled him to stop, but he did not stop and started trying to run away. His bike slipped during the chase. It is alleged that after this the accused opened fire on the police team and tried to escape from the spot.

Shot in both legs in retaliation

The police fired in self-defense and in retaliation, in which the accused was shot in both his legs. The injured accused was sent to the hospital for immediate treatment. The police have arrested him from the spot.

Identification of the arrested accused

ACP Loni Siddharth Gautam said that during interrogation, the arrested accused revealed his name as Gaurav son of Vijendra, resident of village Ganauli, police station Loni, Ghaziabad. According to the police, the accused, along with his associates, has confessed to being involved in the kidnapping and murder of Omkar, son of Rammehar. The accused told that after the murder, the body was thrown in Ganganagar area located on Rohta Meerut Road.

Police engaged in fire action

In this case, a case has been registered at Loni police station under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) under case number 152/26. Police have recovered a Gixxer bike, a .315 bore pistol, a live cartridge and a spent cartridge from the possession of the accused. At present, the police is gathering information about the criminal history of the accused and further legal action is underway in the case.
