New Delhi, June 6. Delhi Police has arrested another accused in the Malviya Nagar fire incident. Apart from this, the police have taken some other people into their custody. At present, the police is interrogating the accused. According to Delhi Police, the accused arrested on Saturday has been identified as cook Keshav Negi, a resident of Dilshad Garden.
Delhi Police investigation has revealed that the cook was negligent in causing the fire. During the investigation, officials reportedly found several violations of safety rules and serious deficiencies in the building’s fire safety infrastructure. In this case, apart from hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj, the police has already arrested other accused Sweety Sarkar and Pushpo Sarkar. Owner Bajaj was later sent to four-day police custody.
Let us tell you that at least 21 people, including many foreign nationals, had died in this incident. Of these 21 people, 9 were Indians, while 12 were foreign nationals, hailing from Bangladesh, Liberia, Nigeria and Mozambique. 47 people were safely evacuated from the building. According to the statement of Max Hospital located in Saket, a total of 15 patients are currently admitted in this hospital in South Delhi. Of these, 13 are foreigners. All the patients on ventilator are stable and showing signs of improvement.
According to Delhi Fire Service, the flames engulfed the basement, ground floor and top 5 floors of the building, causing extensive damage due to heat and smoke. Sources related to Delhi Police said that the fire broke out due to short circuit in the restaurant. The investigation team did not find any evidence of explosion in any LPG cylinder during the incident. Sources said on the basis of initial investigation by Delhi Police that the fire spreads so much when there is a short circuit in the internal wiring. According to sources, there were two kitchens on the basement and top floor of the hotel. LPG cylinders were kept inside both the kitchens. There was no blast in these cylinders.
