The real storm came in 2019

After these two big incidents, the biggest storm for the royal family of Dubai came in the year 2019. When Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, the third wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Princess of Jordan, fled from Dubai with her two children to Britain and sought political asylum there. After getting political asylum in Britain, Haya filed a divorce case in the family court. Princess Haya alleged that there were many things inside the royal palace which were not right for her children, so she wants a divorce from her husband and King of Dubai Rashid Al Maktoum.

The divorce case of Rashid Al Maktoum and Princess Haya lasted for almost two years. During this period, Rashid Al Maktoum not only threatened Haya several times but also got her phone hacked. Apart from this, many threatening poems were also written on social media. After a lengthy legal battle, in 2021 the court ruled in Haya’s favor and she was awarded a historic divorce settlement of approximately £550 million, considered one of the largest settlements in British legal history.

Now the new case in this series is that of Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum, nephew of Rashid Al Maktoum, who married former national gymnast of Azerbaijan Zainab Javadli in the year 2015.
