Vikram Bhatt was once dating Sushmita Sen in poverty; Know the whole story

Vikram Bhatt is a Bollywood filmmaker and director who started a new era of horror and thriller on screen. The personal life of Vikram Bhatt, who scared the audience with films like ‘Raaz’ and ‘1920’, has also been no less than a film story. Today he is famous for his horror films, but in the initial phase of his career, he was in the headlines more for his love relationships and controversies than for his films. Recently, in an interview given to Siddharth Kannan, Vikram Bhatt turned many interesting and unheard pages of his life.

Relationship with Sushmita Sen

It was in 1996, when Vikram Bhatt had separated from his wife Aditi. During this time, he was working as an assistant director in Mahesh Bhatt’s psychological thriller film ‘Dastak’. On the sets of this film, he met former Miss Universe and actress Sushmita Sen. This relationship between the two became the biggest headline of the media at that time. However, this relationship did not last long and soon they broke up, but Vikram still has immense respect for Sushmita. Recalling that period, Vikram Bhatt said, ‘I was a struggling director at that time. To be honest, I didn’t even have money to consume poison. On one hand I was directing a big star like Aamir Khan and on the other hand I was dating Miss Universe, but my pockets were completely empty. I was poor, I remember I didn’t even have money to buy song CDs. I have lived my life exactly like a fakir.

Ex-boyfriend has also praised

The interesting thing is that not only Vikram, but her ex-boyfriend and businessman Lalit Modi has always said good things about Sushmita Sen. When Lalit Modi faced various allegations against Sushmita, he had made it clear that Sushmita was very self-respecting and whenever both of them went on a date, Sushmita often took all the care. Vikram Bhatt’s experience with Sushmita was also equally respectable.

A journey of love and films with Ameesha Patel

After Sushmita Sen, another famous actress Ameesha Patel entered Vikram Bhatt’s life. Ameesha started her career in the year 2000 with the blockbuster film ‘Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai’ with Hrithik Roshan. Just two years later, in 2002, Vikram Bhatt directed her in the film ‘Aap Mujhe Achhe Lagne Lage’. After this film, Vikram and Ameesha’s affair started, which lasted from 2002 to 2007 i.e. about 5 years. Talking about his failed relationships, Vikram Bhatt said in a very practical manner, ‘Even though my relationships did not last in my life, my films always lasted. I must have done something right in my films. Today’s generation may not know what I did in my personal life or who I was with, but everyone remembers my films. That’s why I know that in the end only your hard work makes you win.

Legal troubles and jail journey

Vikram Bhatt’s life was not limited to just glamor and love affairs, but he also had to face a big legal dispute. Due to this dispute, he and his wife Shwetambari had to go through a lot of difficulties. This entire matter was related to the complaint of Ajay Murdia, founder of ‘Indira IVF and Fertility Centre’, Udaipur. The complainant was a resident of Udaipur, due to which the case went on in Rajasthan and Vikram Bhatt and his wife also had to stay in Udaipur jail. On January 31, the Rajasthan High Court had rejected his bail plea saying that it would not be ‘appropriate’ to grant him bail at that time. After this setback, Vikram Bhatt approached the country’s biggest court. The very next month, the Supreme Court overturned the Rajasthan High Court order and granted bail to Vikram and Shwetambari, giving great relief.
