Gandhinagar: The news of a very painful accident has come out from Surat city of Gujarat. Let us tell you, four laborers died due to poisonous gas while cleaning the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) tank of an industrial unit located in Varachha area of the state. There was chaos in the area after the accident and the administration has started investigating the matter.
When did this incident happen?
According to the information, on Sunday morning, four people had gone inside to clean the ETP tank of a jewelery unit, which included a supervisor and three labourers. During cleaning, the effect of poisonous gas present in the tank was so strong that all four started suffocating and within a short time they fell unconscious.

Let us tell you, the information about the incident was given to the fire department at around 10:22 in the morning and in the initial information it was said that only one person was trapped in the tank. But when the fire brigade team reached the spot and started the rescue operation, it was found that four people were lying unconscious inside the tank.

After getting information about the incident, after a lot of effort, the rescue team pulled out all four and took them to SMIMER hospital for immediate treatment. However, after examination, the doctors in the hospital declared everyone dead. As soon as the news of the death of the workers was received, there was an atmosphere of mourning among their families.
Were safety standards ignored?
According to police officials, initial investigation has revealed disregard for safety standards. It is being told that the workers were not wearing any safety equipment while entering the tank and the necessary safety gear was not found on the spot. Officials say that it is being ascertained who is responsible for the accident and why safety protocols were not followed. After the incident, the police have registered a case of death and started investigation. The administration says that after the investigation report comes, necessary action will be taken against the people responsible.
