Some major changes were seen in the new squad released by BCCI. Like Shreyas Iyer was made the captain in place of Suryakumar. Apart from this, inclusion of 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi and LSG bowler Prince Yadav in the T20 team was also a big decision of the board. At the same time, this announcement of BCCI brought disappointment for the winning team of IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bangalore. There was hope for Rajat Patidar

Seeing the batting and captaincy of RCB captain Rajat Patidar in IPL 2026, it seemed that BCCI could make him a part of the T20 team for this tour, but it did not happen. RCB has won the IPL title under his captaincy for the last two consecutive years. In IPL 2026, captain Rajat Patidar played many explosive innings with the bat as well. This season he had scored 501 runs in 15 matches.
