Our movement will continue till the resignation of Union Minister Pradhan, big statement of CJP founder Deepke
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 7 June. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke on Sunday said his agitation against alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment tests will continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. Deepke also said that their protest at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday was largely successful and around 7,000 people participated in it.
He said that now this movement will spread across the country. CJP is a youth-led online movement demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in various examinations, including the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examinations.
Deepke reached his residence in MIDC Waluj area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district of Maharashtra on Sunday morning, where he was welcomed by his family members. Later, while talking to journalists, Deepke said that this movement of Cockroach Janata Party will not stop until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
He said, “The protest we conducted at Jantar Mantar was successful and 6,000 to 7,000 people participated in it. This movement will be nationwide. We will not step back until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.” Deepke said, “We will prepare another action plan to make this movement nationwide.”
Meanwhile, security has been increased at Deepke’s residence. An official of the MIDC police station in Waluj district said, “We have increased security at his residence from today. Earlier, 11 security personnel were deployed there, now their number has increased to 15. The deployed personnel are from the local police station and the city police headquarters.”
After reaching New Delhi from the US on Saturday morning, DeepK participated in the protest at Jantar Mantar under the banner of CJP and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the examinations. On Saturday, hundreds of protesters under the banner of CJP gathered at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and demanded Pradhan’s resignation over alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment tests.
Deepke gave a message to the protesters that they need not be “afraid”. Later, at a press conference in the national capital, CJP spokespersons announced that they would wait for a week for either the central government to dismiss Pradhan or for Pradhan himself to resign. He said that after this they will start nationwide protests. Deepke, who had called for the protest, reached Delhi from America on Saturday morning.
While leaving the airport he had a copy of BR Ambedkar’s autobiography in his hand. After getting permission to protest from Delhi Police, he reached Jantar Mantar, where people started gathering since morning. The protesters were seen wearing ‘cockroach’ masks and carrying posters demanding Pradhan’s resignation. These masks were being distributed at the protest site. The protesters demanded the resignation of the Education Minister.
Apart from this, they raised slogans demanding the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to stop “Hindu-Muslim” politics and also raised slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai”. Deepke was later joined by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk in the protest amid heavy security arrangements. Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, Communist Party of India (CPI)’s Annie Raja and activists of Left student and youth organizations also joined the protest.
