‘Mamata Banerjee will remain the leader’, split in TMC’s rebel group, will the bitterness end now?
58 MLAs of Trinamool Congress do not accept Abhishek Banerjee as the general secretary of the party. Amid reports of rift with Abhishek Banerjee, divisions have now started breaking out in the group led by Ritabrata Banerjee. Many MLAs have clearly said that Mamata Banerjee will remain the supreme leader of the party.
The MLAs have said that if they are made mere advisors then they will reconsider staying in this group. After the meeting, Ritabrata Banerjee had proposed that Mamata Banerjee could become the chief advisor of the new legislative party. Many rebel MLAs did not like this.

‘MLAs are not angry with Mamata Banerjee’
Panchla MLA Gulshan Malik said, ‘We were told that the party will run under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee. They are not just consultants. We want the party to work under his leadership.

If Mamata Banerjee is not considered the supreme leader, then she will have to think whether she should remain in this group or not.
‘Mamata Banerjee is a leader, not an advisor’
Sangeeta Roy Basunia, MLA from Sitai assembly seat, also reiterated the same thing. He said, ‘Mamata Banerjee is and will remain our supreme leader. They cannot be made advisors. She is our leader.

Mamta Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress broke up
The rebellion started in Trinamool Congress after facing a bad defeat from Bharatiya Janata Party in the assembly elections. 58 MLAs separated and elected Ritabrata Banerjee as the leader of the opposition and also got recognition from the Speaker.
The rebel MLAs are expressing loyalty to Mamata Banerjee, but are opposing the growing influence of Abhishek Banerjee. This is the biggest internal crisis in the 28-year history of the party.
