Five years old incident repeated: Christian Eriksen falls again in friendly match, game stopped

Odense. Christian Eriksen once again collapsed on the field on Sunday, after which the international friendly football match being played between Denmark and Ukraine was stopped midway. The incident took place at the Nature Energy Park in Odense, Denmark.

Denmark was leading 2-1 in the second half of the match, when Eriksen started falling on the field, moving his hands towards his chest. Immediately the medical team reached the field and the game was stopped.

The Danish Football Association later confirmed that Eriksen was conscious and in stable condition. The match was cancelled. According to the Danish Football Association, national team doctor Morten Boesen said that Eriksen walked himself off the field and that the heart device implanted in his body worked as expected.

According to the doctor, Ericsson was unconscious for some time but regained consciousness very quickly and was able to talk. He sent a message to his colleagues informing them that he was fine.

The incident reminded players and fans of the incident five years ago, when Eriksen suffered a heart attack on the field in a match against Finland during the European Championship 2021 (Euro 2020) and his heart stopped for a few minutes. At that time he was saved by providing medical aid on the field itself.

After that incident, Ericsson had a special heart device implanted in his body. After this, he returned and started playing club football again and later became a part of many clubs. At present, Ericsson has been taken to the hospital for further medical examination. The match was not restarted due to the incident.
