₹82 liter E85 fuel is not for every bike and car! Know in which vehicles only it can be used

Amidst the rising prices of petrol and diesel in India, a new and cheaper option has now emerged. The price of E85 fuel has been kept at only ₹ 82.12 per liter, which is about ₹ 20 cheaper than normal petrol. But being cheap does not mean that you should get it loaded in any of your bikes or cars. Doing this may also cause damage to your vehicle’s engine. Let us know what is E85 Fuel and in which vehicles it can be used.

What is E85 Fuel and why is it being discussed?

E85 is a special type of flex fuel, which contains a mixture of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent petrol. It causes less harm to the environment than traditional petrol and also reduces pollution. On the occasion of World Environment Day, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched the country’s first E85 Fuel Dispenser in Delhi, after which its discussion has increased rapidly.

Can E85 Fuel be filled in every bike and car?

If you are thinking that now that cheap fuel is available, fill E85 in your bike or car immediately, then wait. E85 fuel can only be used in vehicles that are equipped with Flex Fuel Technology. Using it in vehicles with normal petrol engines can have adverse effects on the engine and fuel system.

Currently only 3 bikes got approval for E85 fuel

Currently, there are only three motorcycles in the Indian market that have been officially approved to run on E85 fuel. These include Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel, Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 FFV. That means, if you do not have any of these bikes then E85 Fuel is not for you at the moment.

Hero’s Flex Fuel bikes become people’s first choice

Hero MotoCorp, one of the country’s most popular bike companies, has introduced two models in the Flex Fuel segment. The Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel is priced at ₹82,710, while the ex-showroom price of the Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel is around ₹72,792. Both these bikes have been specially designed for E85 Fuel, which gives the benefit of better mileage and less pollution.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 FFV is also a special option

If you like a bike with sporty look and strong performance, then Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 FFV can be a great option for you. This bike also supports E85 Fuel and is available in the Indian market. Its ex-showroom price is around ₹ 1.98 lakh. In the coming time, many other companies can also launch Flex Fuel vehicles, which will give more options to the customers.

E85 Fuel is definitely a big step towards cheaper and eco-friendly fuel in India. However, before taking advantage of it, it is important to ensure whether your vehicle is Flex Fuel Compatible or not. Just looking at the price, using E85 fuel can prove to be an expensive deal for your vehicle.
